At What Age Should I Start Botox?

Botox or botulinum toxins injections, whatever you want to call them, are the most popular non-surgical anti-aging treatment in the US as well as the UK. And for a good reason. Botox does a particular thing, and people question the right time in their life to start receiving these treatments.

Is Preventative Botox a Thing?

Yes, today, we are going to be talking about slightly younger people who chose to have Botox. Why do they do it? What's in it for them? Maybe you don't have any lines, so what's the point of having a treatment like this done?

There is no denying the fact that people who maybe don't have any lines in the frown lines, the forehead, or the crow's feet are still getting Botox done. I see them in the clinic all the time. What is the point of them having it done? Why spend money on a treatment that arguably people would say you don't need?

Often it's because of the way it will subtly change the position of the muscles in the face, and people usually like this. Often, you will see that there is a slight raising of the eyebrow at the tail. This can give a slightly more arched look if your somebody that has horizontal brows. This opens up your eyes slightly, giving you a more youthful, bright appearance.

You have probably heard the term "preventative Botox." While I think there is an age that is definitely too early (teens), I believe that it is relatively appropriate to start Botox treatments in your 20's.

Let's Start With The Basics.

Botox is NOT a filler.

Botox relaxes the muscle at the local injection site, paralyzing it from movement. Due to the lack of muscle movement, wrinkles are less likely to form. This is best for patients in their 20's when there are little to no lines yet.

When one has a wrinkle, they require a filler to help fill in the line.

Botox is for very faint to almost non-existent fine lines on the face.

Signs That It May Be Time For Botox.

Do you stare at a computer screen all day?

If so, you might start to notice that some creases are forming right in the center of your brows. These lines are known as the 11's, some people have even referred to them as the "Harry Potter" line.

The Most Beneficial and Cost-Efficient Ways Use Of Botox Is Preventative.

This requires starting Botox at an earlier point in our lives. This point could be where one notices some creasing or faint lines when wearing makeup. Without preventative Botox, These soft lines will eventually and gradually progress into deep lines that will become noticeable once we get older.

Preventative Botox involves using a "baby dose." This consists of starting with low and conservative amounts of Botox. This will help stop the lines from forming as well as giving the patient a beautiful smooth appearance, keeping her/his youthful look.

What Are The Main Areas For Preventative Botox?
